OK so here it goes.....
I will "TRY" and make a long story short, but no promises.

My hubby Warren, takes the ol' saying "one man's trash is another mans treasure" very seriously.
This is not something I am very proud of, but he likes to go out on what he calls "Big Trash Day" and look for "Goodies".  I know, I know, Embarrassing!!!!
Warren had a BBQ pit grave yard behind our house for the longest.  If he saw a BBQ pit on the side of the road, his plan was to bring it home so it could rest in piece with all the other dead, rusty, broken, run down, useless BBQ pits he has picked up over the years.  I know, I know, CRAZY!!!
O and ice chest are his favorite.  No exaggeration....We have at the least, 20 ice chest in our shed.  PEOPLE!!!! PLEASE!!!!  Tie your ice chest down in the back of your pick up trucks!!!!  Because when you loose it......my husband finds it, and it comes to live at my house.

Now, I have to admit he has sold some of his finds at our Garage Sales, and made some nice pocket change.  But, I live in fear that my neighbors will come see their stuff at my sale and our secret would be out.  I Know I know!!!  Hes Shameless.

So to get to the point of my story........
One night my hubby brought home something special from his night out on the town. (he only goes out at night, THANK GOODNESS!)  To my surprise, he stumbled upon a nice little piece of furniture.  Yes it did have a layer of burgundy paint two inches thick, and the top was no longer attached to its base, and it had hunter green polka dots on the trim.  Hello, the dots were not even uniform. lol  But this shelf had potential.  Sadly, I didn't think I would be telling this story so I didn't take a before pic. :(

But,  I have lots of afters.  Now i am not a painter.  For that matter....I'm not a sander either.  But I did sand and paint my new bright red, three tiered, slightly rustic shelf that my hubby rescued from its definite demise.  Hes such a Hero!!!!  And I have found myself asking my hubby,  Is today "Big Trash Day" dear?   I think we need more goodies. :)

Use your imagination.  The closest thing I have to a before photo of my shelf, are these legs.  The burgundy on the legs is what is left after I sanded as much as I could stand to sand.  I decided that the left behind paint would make the shelf look rustic.  and it did.

So here's my shelf after its first of many layers of RED paint.  I'm loving it!!!

More layers!!!!
 It's perfect!!!
I added 12X12 scrapbook paper on each shelf to serve as place mats
to break up the red and add POP!!!
I'm loving the POP!!

The finished shelf with my stuff on it.
Like it was meant to be. :)
To top off my shelf, I filled my new gum ball jar with Marshmallows and framed the saying "
Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you marshmallows.  And that's kind of the same thing.  HEHEHEH.  Thanks for my jar La Ray.  Who knows what I will fill it with next.
